This is a beautiful set of books. The online disappointment was that the box in which the books are stored was a little marred in a couple of places. Since this is a gift I would have preferred it to be perfect.

Beautiful, faithful reproductions of these illustrated classics in a charming slipcased set. It's a great value and makes a perfect gift. Recommended!
This book did not have three stories in it-it had just one. The book was old; it had water damage on the inside front cover. I sent it back.
Please be aware that the slipcase does not bear a full NC Wyeth painting of Rip Van Winkle but rather a smaller section minus the "Rip Van Winkle" scroll and in gold print "Washington Irving A Treasure". This detracts from what could have been a deluxe slipcase. The three books do not have full images on the cover as per the image shown but a smaller version and very oddly the image is not centered but all are to the right. Again this detracts from what are essentially faithfull reprints of the American and English editions. The color plates are printed double sided which also lessens the quality of the books. The image indicates a premium product, in reality the set is a budget collection.
Fantastic illustrations by N.C. Wyeth, and good ol' American story-telling.
I bought this for my girl friend for Christmas mostly for the illustrations (she's an illustrator). She was very happy with the two or three artists they used (I guess they used some famous prints) and I think she even plans on reading the books which are very well put together and will last a long time.
This is such a nice set of 3 American classics with original artwork! I saw it first in a museum catalog but had the best price! Great little collection item to own. Enjoyed reading these stories as an adult.
